TllK DEATH of the late Bishop of Guildford took placo at All Saints Church, Ryde, just after the morning service had been concluded. Tho deceased had just preached an impressive sermon, and, after reading the prayer for the Church militant, remained kneeling before the altar. Ho was suddenly hoard to cry out, and then fell forward on his face. Tho vicar, assisted by some other gentlemen, came to his aid and assisted him to tho vestry, but within five minutes life was extinct. The death is attributed to heart disease. What made the occurrence the moro painful was the fact of Mrs. Uttorton being herself present in tho church. The deceased, Dr. John Sutton Utterton was born at Ipswich in 1814, being a son of the late Col. Utterton. Ho received the appointment of suffragan bishop of Guildford in 1874, being previously well known in South London, wbero ho founded the Surrey Church Association.— British Empire, Dec 27, 1379.
